Ghana: 225 MW Wind Park Ayitepa receives Siting Permit!

Ghana: 225 MW Wind Park Ayitepa receives Siting Permit!

The wind project Ayitepa, which is located east of Tema and has been developed for our contracting party Upwind International AG, has received last December the so-called Siting Permit (Siting Clearance) from the Energy Commission. This is the last outstanding permit from the authorities before the issuance of the building and operating permit by the Energy Commission.

Henceforth, for the project to reach financial close only the power purchase agreement with the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) and the grid connection agreement with the grid operator GRIDCo are missing. Subsequently, a GCSA will be negotiated with the government and signed (Government Comfort and Support Agreement).

We still assume that the wind park Ayitepa will reach a fully permitted status during the first half-year of 2015 and that construction works for the project can begin then.
