Ghana’s Ministers of Finance and Energy meet NEK Representatives

In February 2017, meetings between the new Government of Ghana and NEK / Lekela took place in connection with the realisation of the 225 MW Wind Farm Ayitepa.

After the change of power in Ghana, the new Minister of Energy, Hon. Boakye Agyarko, as well as the new Minister of Finance, Hon. Ken Ofori-Atta, informed themselves about our Wind Energy Project, which has reached a ready to build stage. The Ministers, together with their teams, assured that they will fully support the realisation of the Wind Farm, which after having received all necessary permits only still requires the signing of a so-called “Government Agreement”. From the side of the later operator of the Wind Farm, Lekela Advisores Ltd. from London, their CEO, Chris Antonopoulos, as well as their Vice President for the Sub-Sahara Region, Mikael Schoultz, were present. From our side, Dr. Patrick Ata, Michael Wuddah-Martey as well as Dr. Christoph Kapp took part. With an annual production of more than 600’000 MWh of clean and domestic electricity, the Wind Farm will contribute towards the supply security of the country, reduce the reliance on imports from abroad for energy production and underline the leadership role of Ghana in realising renewable energy projects in West Africa.
