Wind measurement campaign in Ghana launched

In connection with the assignement from the Energy Comission, Ghana, to evaluate the wind potential within the country, preparation work for the installation of the measuring systems is under way.

The 6 measuring masts (60 m high NRG tall towers) are on their way to Tema, where they will arrive in the next weeks. The measuring masts will be installed at the following 6 locations on the coast of Ghana:

  • Atiteti, Volta Region
  • Senya Beraku West, Central Region
  • Sege, Greater Accra Region
  • Prampram, Greater Accra Region
  • Takoradi (Pumpuni), Western Region
  • Ekumfi Narkwa, Central Region

These measurements will be complemented with data from wind measurements performed on mobile phone masts as well as Lidar measurements. Therefore we will be able to conduct wind measurements at 12 to 15 locations along the coast, which will allow us to create a significant wind atlas for the region in question. For potential investors this will serve as a basis for project decisions.

The installation of the measuring systems will take place from November on by one of our teams, which will be assisted by our local technician.
