President of Ghana meets NEK CEO at State Visit in Switzerland
At the end of February 2020, Ghanaian President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo was invited by the Swiss government for a state visit. On the guest list for the gala dinner in the Bernerhof was also the CEO of NEK Umwelttechnik AG, Dr. Christoph Kapp.
It was the first state visit since Ghana's independence in 1957. The Ghanaian President Akufo-Addo was welcomed with military honours by the entire national government on the Bundesplatz in Bern. The two delegations had discusssions on social aspects and environmental standards in economic development and the extraction of raw materials. A Memorandum of Understanding on environmental cooperation was signed by both parties, also with regard to necessary actions in connection with climate change. The CEO of NEK Umwelttechnik AG, Dr. Christoph Kapp, was also invited to the traditional gala dinner at the Bernerhof. This was an opportunity to follow up on the discussions with the delegation from Ghana on NEK's wind projects in Ghana in a relaxed atmosphere and to discuss the cooperation between Switzerland and Ghana in this context.
