Wind Farm Konikablo in Ghana receives construction permit

On the 13th of January 2016, the Wind Energy Project Konikablo, which is located directly east of the Wind Farm Ayitepa that is also being developed by us, has received the definite and final Construction Permit from the responsible district authority in Ningo-Prampram (District Assembly). This happened after a relatively short permitting process of only a couple of months.

This is only the second time that a wind energy project in Ghana has ever received a construction permit. The Wind Farm Konikablo will have an installed capacity of up to 200 MW depending on the final choice of turbine type and the definite layout. The project shall be realised in multiple phases.

Parallel to this, we are working on a Power Purchase Agreement with the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) as well as a Grid Connection Agreement with GRIDCO.

We expect that the Wind Farm Konikablo, which sale is being negotiated at the moment, will be fully permitted within the second half-year of 2016 and that afterwards construction work may commence for this ambitious project.

Also this project will contribute, at least partially, towards closing the gap in the electricity supply which is causing big problems in Ghana.
