Pilot project in Kosovo initiated

At the end of 2010 we successfully completed a feasibility study for wind energy projects in Kosovo. Measurements were taken at ten sites during last year, which provided enough data to produce a wind resource map for the country, and identify suitable sites for future projects.

The current situation in Kosovo convinced us to continue our activities and to initiate the development of a pilot project: in the municipality of Rahovec we identified a suitable site that had ideal wind conditions and infrastructure. Since the autumn of 2010 we have been taking measurements on the site employing heated anemometers, and we will shortly erect additional measurement masts for measuring at hub height. At the same time, we will start to build a wind park of 15-20 MW and obtain the necessary permissions. At hub height we expect to measure wind speeds of around 6 m/sec.
