The picture spread on n-tv.de shows stunning images of the first commercial offshore-wind farm in Germany. At the moment 17 wind turbines are located 100 kilometres off the shore of the island Borkum in the North Sea. Of which eight are already producing power, another three are going to be commissioned today.

According to the wind energy company Bard, completion of the farm is scheduled for early 2013. The turbines for off-shore operation have a height of up to 160 m, a weight of several hundreds of Tons and their blades are larger than the wing of the Airbus A380.
