Wind park project Budakova in Kosovo receives preliminary operating license

On behalf of the Swiss company Upwind International II GmbH, we have been developing a wind park in the three municipalities of Suhareka, Sterpce and Ferizaj in Kosovo for some time already. Now, this project has received the preliminary construction and operating license from ERO (Energy Regulatory Office) on the 30th of June, 2013.

This very important step for our project development has been carried out by the authorities of Kosovo only a bit more than 4 months after we have handed in the corresponding application. Recently, the wind park Budakova has also received the environmental permit next to the construction and operating license, and therefore, the two most important permits for its realisation have now been issued.

While the environmental permit is valid up to an installed capacity of 48 MW, the ERO permit now on hand was issued for 30 MW in accordance with our application. The detailed planning phase of the wind park will show which turbines will be employed and what the hub height will be. Either way, the definite construction and operating license will be issued for an installed capacity of 40 - 48 MW.

At the moment, we are planning on employing turbines of the 3.0 MW-class. A corresponding study has shown that accessibility is given and that it will be possible to erect this type of turbine at this specific site.
